A 15-year-old’s jaw was broken in two places following a vicious attack near Bournemouth Pier at the weekend.
The victim, who lives locally, was assaulted at around 10.30pm on Saturday in what police have described as “a very nasty attack”.
After being punched, he was taken to Poole hospital for treatment.
DC Steve Griffin said the boy had suffered a broken jaw and was undergoing surgery.
He added: “The boy was with friends and the offender was part of another group.
“I am appealing for witnesses and want to speak to anyone who may have been around the area of Bournemouth Pier and The Square at around that time.”
The offender is white, about 18, with a heavy build.
He is about 6ft tall with short blond hair and was wearing a hooded top and blue jeans.
