FRESH air, fresh produce and the occasional sweet treat have helped Florence Baker reached her century.
Florence celebrated her milestone with her nieces and nephews and local ward councillors Sue Anderson and Beverley Dunlop.
Her friends and family paid tribute to her as a “true lady” with old-fashioned values.
Scrupulously polite, she enjoys the English language and reads all correspondence with a keen eye, often picking out points to discuss.
She was born in Aldershot but moved to Bournemouth at the age of seven. She had a Saturday morning job at a haberdashers while at school and later worked for a local jewellers.
Florence lived in Southbourne and Strouden Park before moving to Kingsley House in Moordown several years ago.
Staff at Kingsley House say Florence doesn’t like tins of food but prefers freshly-cooked meals and is occasionally escorted to the shops to choose her produce, along with a few sweets.
