A HOSPICE nurse is taking part in a 24-hour stationary bike ride to raise vital funds for her workplace and two other charities.
Ros Dwyer, who has worked at the Lewis-Manning Hospice in Poole for 12 years, is one of 15 women taking on the feat of endurance at Virgin Active in Cabot Lane, Creekmoor, on Friday. The other causes to benefit are Diverse Abilities Plus and Help for Heroes.
Each rider is allowed a five minute comfort break every hour, or they can accumulate it to have a longer break every few hours.
Maria Tidy, fundraising manager at the hospice, said: “We’re really proud of Ros and the other ladies for taking on this mammoth challenge and we’re really getting behind them to help them raise as much funding for the hospice as possible.
“Money from events like this really makes a huge difference to our charity. We have to raise at least £50,000 each month towards the running costs of the hospice so anything the local community can do to help us reach this total is hugely appreciated.”
