POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly woman was burgled while she was at home in Burton, near Christchurch.
The burglary took place in Treebys Close, Burton last Sunday night around 9.15pm.
Police have only just released details of the incident, which left the pensioner shaken, and have compiled an e-fit of one of the offenders believed to have been involved.
The two men gained entry to the house and stole a purse containing a quantity of cash and a bank savings book.
Detective Constable Symon Clarke, of Eastern CID said: “Following further enquiries, I am now able to release an e-fit of the one of the men we believe is responsible for this burglary.
“The occupant, an elderly woman, was at home at the time and disturbed the offenders in one of the rooms.
“The two men then quickly left the property.
“I would urge anyone who recognises this man to contact me as soon as possible.
“Anyone who saw any suspicious activity along Treebys Close at the time is urged to dial 101 in confidence.”
Residents said the road is normally very quiet and that they had been surprised to hear of the burglary.
