MEMBERS of a ‘Super Heroes Club’ at a Bournemouth academy have formed their own comic creating business.
The club at the Bishop of Winchester Academy, which includes students with high functioning autism or Asperger syndrome, has formed Blue Book Comics through the Young Enterprise Scheme and has been invited to display their comic artwork at the South West Regional Finals trade stands later this year.
Carolyn Taylor, co-ordinator of the Centre for Complex Communication Difficulties, said: “They have worked really hard to produce a comic which has raised money for their business by being sold around the school.”
JP Morgan also helped the group buy a whiteboard, projector, TV, camera and DVD players.
“Visual learning is so important to these students and we have seen real benefits from the equipment we have been able to use,” said Carolyn.
“The Young Enterprise project also helps us to improve the social skills of the students.”
