DOUBLE Olympian Liz Yelling will be taking part in Poole’s eagerly-anticipated Festival of Running.

The Parkstone-based runner will also give coaching tips to fellow athletes during the Poole Park event next month.

Organisers say there is still time to register as the application deadline is May 11.

The annual event, a firm favourite on the south coast’s calendar, attracts serious athletes and fun-runners alike.

This year, proceeds from the festival go towards Poole Hospital’s charity maternity appeal.

Borough of Poole sports and recreation portfolio holder Cllr Judy Butt will officially start each race.

It is expected around 2,300 runners will take part in the 10k, 5k or children’s races, set for the park on May 27.

Race director Steve Wardman said: “We promise a whole day of races and music, entertainment, stalls and refreshments for the whole family to enjoy – including a beer tent.”

Jane Jones, of JJ PR & Events, said: “With everything from an under eight’s race to a minithon, to a 5k Born to Run race and 10k race, it is going to be a fantastic day out in support of this local worthy cause.

“Anyone interested in booking a pitch needs to contact us quickly as we are thrilled with the response we’ve received so far.

“Give the team a call on 01202 770 160.”
