BOURNEMOUTH plant nursery is celebrating after they were given a cash donation to help build a polytunnel.
Cherry Tree Nursery were given £1,000 by the Gardening for Disabled Trust, which will enable them to purchase all the materials for building the polytunnel, to provide a shelter for the volunteers, in bad weather.
The charity project, which supports adults with severe and enduring mental illness in the plant nursery environment, also believes that the polytunnel will benefit those volunteers who don’t like open spaces.
Jessica Davies, Nursery Manager, said: “It is an honour for the charity to be recognised by the Gardening for Disabled Trust.
“The trust aims to help people garden despite illness, age and disability.
“It has been of great help to many and helps provide information and answers to horticultural questions, particularly about garden design for those with disabilities.”
She added: “As more people become interested in gardening and the therapeutic nature of horticulture, the work of the Trust, like that of Cherry Tree Nursery, becomes increasingly relevant.”
