YACHT club members invited to a meeting about the Poole Bay windfarm voted unanimously against the plan.
The event was held at the Royal Yacht Squadron on the Isle of Wight – a similar event is planned at Parkstone Yacht Club on May 1.
Jamie Nimmo, secretary of the Sea View Yacht Club, told the Daily Echo: “I did not think much of the presentation by Eneco, which had nothing of any concrete use to tell us whatsoever.”
Mr Nimmo said that at the end of the meeting a show of hands revealed mass opposition and no-one in favour.
He said Eneco’s electronic equipment had not recorded how heavily used the area was and that people were worried about safety due to the air turbulence around there.
Eneco said afterwards the firm was able to answer most questions at the meeting and follow up the others.
It said the boat data presented was only from February and March and another survey would be carried out in the summer.
Eneco also said a survey by the Royal Yachting Association found 80 per cent of sailors navigated wind farms without difficulty.
