A LONG time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Actually, it was 15 years ago in Bournemouth that legendary club night Slinky first launched.
To celebrate their birthday, Slinky is holding a special night at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on May 4. With a stellar line-up of world famous DJ’s including Paul Oakenfold, John O’Callaghan and Marcus Schossow, there is also a Star Wars fancy dress theme.
It’s been almost 14 years since DJ and Producer Paul Oakenfold graced the decks at Slinky.
“The crowd at Slinky in Bournemouth were pretty full on as far as I remember. They liked to dress up, party hard and dance even harder. Great energetic crowd,” says Paul Oakenfold.
The DJ shot to fame in the acid house scene of the late 80’s and has gone on to produce seminal albums by The Happy Monday’s, U2 and The Rolling Stones.
But how will the superstar DJ react to the Star Wars fancy dress theme?
“Now I’m really excited to see this. A podium of Storm Troopers going for it – ha ha. If I had Jedi skills I’d use them against every opposition goal keeper who Chelsea face. These are not the balls you’re looking for…they may pass.”
