AROUND 250 Dorset school children made a real song and dance about the Olympics when they took to the stage last week to celebrate the Games coming to Dorset.
The children, all aged between seven and 18, expressed their excitement about this once-in-a-lifetime event through a variety of music and dance ranging from samba and ballet to musical theatre at the Lighthouse in Poole.
Their performance was part of the Dorset Music Service’s annual Children’s Concerts, which included one show exclusively for an audience of around 1,200 local primary school children followed by a later show for family, friends and members of the public.
During the second performance, the children were joined on stage by local singer David Humphreys who performed his own composition called ‘The Olympics are Coming to Dorset’, backed by the Dorset Youth String Ensemble and joined by 120 young singers from across the county.
