AFC Bournemouth player Steve Cook is among four footballers charged in connection with an alleged sex attack.
Cook, 21, from Perth Road, St Leonards, is due to appear with his co-accused at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 11.
Also due to appear before magistrates, on the same charges of sexual assault and voyeurism, are three of Cook’s former teammates at Brighton and Hove Albion FC.
His co-accused, who were also charged yesterday, are George Barker, 20, from Highview Avenue North, Brighton; Lewis Dunk, 20, from Woodbourne Avenue, Brighton and Anton Rodgers, 19, from Highview Avenue North, Brighton.
The four were arrested in January this year in connection with an alleged attack on a woman in Brighton on July 17 last year.
A fifth player; Ben Sampayo, who was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on the same date, has been advised that no further action will be taken against him.
An AFC Bournemouth spokesman said: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that defender Steve Cook has been charged in relation to an alleged offence that happened in July last year.
“The club will make no further comment on the subject whilst we let the legal process take its course.”
