SOME special children stepped up to pick out the winning tickets in three raffles after a week of fundraising for Poole’s Community Nursing Team.
Crowds gathered at its temporary stand in the Dolphin Centre to see Harry Churchill, Kaitlin Moors, Alisha Godber and Millie Moor perform the honours, while Poole town crier David Squire called out the numbers.
The money raised will go towards equipment to help the team continue their work caring for such children in their own homes.
Community nurse sister Helen Parker said: “There are 300 children with complex health needs and our job is to keep them out of hospital as much as possible, and we’re raising our profile.
“We also do end-of-life care for children at home.”
Helen and the team hope to have raised around £1,000 with the raffles, with prizes including a signed picture of the Arsenal football team, a family trip to Paultons Park, a HD TV and DVD player.
The team is the focus of a year’s fundraising by the Poole and Wimborne Woodland Burial Ground, which helped with the stand in the shopping centre.
