POLICE have begun a two-week long crackdown on drug dealers in Boscombe.
Officers will be raiding homes, stopping and sear-ching suspected dealers and referring addicts to rehab.
The operation began yesterday and will run until May 15.
Bournemouth East Police Neighbourhood Inspector Chris Weeks said: “We have listened to the local community and they have openly told us there is drug activity taking place on the streets of Boscombe.
“This operation is a chance for us to focus on this with a view to make a real difference.”
Police will be executing search warrants at the homes of those believed to be involved in the supply of Class A drugs like heroin and crack cocaine.
A force spokesman said Boscombe is being targeted ‘following concerns from the local community and intelligence gathered over the past six months’.
The initiative is part of Operation Dismantle, which has been running for just over two years across the county.
When officers meet addicts, they will be referred to the Bournemouth Assessment Centre, where they will receive drug and alcohol-related rehabilitation.
Insp Weeks added: “Dorset Police will not tolerate crime and disorder.
“This activity sends out a clear message that the force is determined to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour most affecting our communities”.
Anyone with information should call police on 101, or by using the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
