CHRISTCHURCH sales administrator Stacey Voce will be one of many cancer survivors lining up on Bournemouth seafront this summer to take part in Race for Life.

The 25-year-old was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year and has undergone numerous tests, treatments and operations to fight the disease.

In December Stacey and her loving family heard the words they had been waiting for – she had been given the all clear.

Stacey, who lives in Downton, is urging women to get their symptoms checked out.

She warned: “It you are thinking of putting it off – don’t. It could save your life.” Stacey discovered she had cancer after visiting the doctors suffering from spot bleeding, bad cramps and discomfort during and after sex.

Further tests revealed the tumour had spread to her vaginal wall and doctors broke the devastating news she would be unable to carry her own child.

Stacey received the support of her family and Shane, her partner of eight years.

She said: “It was hard being told I will never be able to carry my own child. But I thought I was going to die and I just had to stay positive and not let cancer beat me.”

Stacey’s treatment was delayed until her eggs had been removed and frozen and then she faced six weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.

She added: “Luckily for me, the treatment was successful and I was given the all clear in December last year.

“I am as healthy now as I was before I was diagnosed.” Stacey will take part in the Bournemouth Race for Life with her mum, Tina, as they did last year and they hope to raise £1,000 for research.
