A PENSIONER who is fighting for his life following a road accident in Charminster last month may have tripped and fallen into the road.
Police have renewed their appeal for information after the collision at a crossing on Wellington Road at 10.45 pm on Monday, April 23.
A 73-year-old man was involved in a collision with a blue BMW, being driven by a 27-year-old local man who stopped at the scene.
The pensioner is in a critical condition at Southampton General Hospital.
Sgt Tony Burden said: “It is believed the injured man may have tripped and fallen into the road at the crossing, prior to the car colliding with him.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident, witnessed the elderly pedestrian walking along Charminster Road beforehand, or indeed approaching the crossing on Wellington Road.”
The injured man was wearing dark trousers and a jacket.
He has blond, greying, thinning hair.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 23:460 or phone Crime-stoppers on 0800 555 111.
