A HOUSING campaigner said it “beggars belief” Bournemouth Council has decided not to take enforcement action over a Dave Wells Properties (DWP) house.
Lisa Northover reported 53 St Clements Road House as a House in Multiple Occupation without planning permission.
The council said in a letter to Lisa that DWP, which had owned the house since in 2004, had been “uncooperative” since the complaint.
But it decided that because it first heard about the property in 2007, it would be “unreasonable” to now enforce the planning law.
Lisa Northover said: “I appeal to the planning board to overturn this decision and demonstrate a commitment to sort out housing in Boscombe.”
Planning officer Nigel Billett said: “Since the property has been in use for more than five years without complaint, the council does not consider it necessary to take enforcement action.”
Dave Wells said the house was a HMO since before 2004. The council said he had not produced evidence of that.
He said he will be submitting an application to redevelop the site into attractive flats.
