GRAFFITI artists started covering up swear words and vulgar drawings with colourful, artistic works.

They gathered at the Skate Park in Bournemouth’s Kings Park and covered half the area with another event to follow.

The idea for the Graffiti Jam came up after a discussion between graffiti artist Mark Cartwright, 25, from Boscombe, known as Treadski, and Parks Manager Eddy Butler.

Mark said: “The parks team have been struggling with people writing swear words in the park and the original idea was to help them out.

“We had six people down and made an excellent start and want to do another event next month, with a much bigger one to follow in the summer.”

He saw the event, held on Sunday, was also a chance to mix some of the younger people with mature graffiti artists.
