A DOG rescue charity staged a night-time pyjama stroll along the seafront.
Staff and supporters of Margaret Green Animal Rescue walked the eight miles from Sandbanks to Southbourne on Saturday night.
They have raised £600 so far – and entertained a few bemused revellers along the way.
“There were quite a few merry people!” said marketing manager Lou Keeling from Wareham.
“They were very interested in how we were dressed and what we doing and it was very busy around Bournemouth Pier.
“We got around £100 in donations on the night.
“We thought it would be cold so people also wrapped up warm, not just with pyjamas but with hats, gloves and scarves.” The charity covers the whole of Dorset and has centres in Bere Regis, Church Knowle and Tavistock in Devon.
The staff and volunteers rescue and re-home more than 1,000 ill-treated and abandoned dogs every year.
Around eight people with rescue dogs joined the walk with a similar number of staff, and they completed their journey around 11.30pm.
This was the charity’s night-time walk and was dubbed the ‘Jubi-lead Pups and PJs Walk’. Lou Keeling said it would “definitely” hold another next year.
Margaret Green Animal Rescue said it is the oldest and largest animal rescue charity founded in Dorset.
