A HISTORIC beacon will be lit on Okeford Hill on the evening of Monday, June 4, to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth.
Cllr Angus Campbell, leader of Dorset County Council, will light the beacon at 10pm to round off a weekend of celebrations and everyone is invited to join him to witness the occasion.
There will be a marquee with a bar and hot food.
The beacon will be just one of thousands lit around the world as part of four days of celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of HRH the Queen’s coronation.
The hill is just south of Okeford Fitzpaine, which is between Blandford and Sturminster Newton.
Cllr Mike Oliver of North Dorset District Council, who is organising the event, said: “I hope that as many people as possible from across North Dorset will be able to join us.”
