A large quantity of metal and cable has been stolen from a firm at Holton Heath Trading Park.
Wareham Police Constable Mark Walsh said: “Thieves broke in and they hot-wired two forklift trucks to help them.
“They stole high value metal and cables on reels which would have each weighed about a tonne.”
Police believe a lorry must have been used to transport the haul.
A police spokesman said the theft took place sometime between 11am on Sunday, April 29, and 4.30am on Monday, April 30.
