Jenny is hair for the good of others SHE donated one of her kidneys to a stranger, but admits she had to think twice before donating her hair.

Jenny Dale, 47, a crime scene investigator from Bournemouth, and her two sisters Wendy and Imogen, will be chopping their locks for charity this Friday.

Their trimmed tresses will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which helps provide real-hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

“Giving a kidney is one thing but when it’s your hair it does become an issue of vanity,” admits Jenny.

“But it’s been playing on my conscience ever since I heard about the charity so we decided to go for it.”

Jenny and her two sisters have been growing their hair for the last few months for the fundraising event, which includes a raffle and charity auction.

“We decided the three winning raffle ticket holders can wield the scissors and do the honours,” says Jenny.

“There will be a couple of hairdressers on hand to help out too.”

Jenny has also been selected to be an Olympic torch bearer on July 13 for her altruistic organ donation last year.

She does not know who received her kidney and made the decision after she was inspired by a friend to donate the organ.

“I knew two twin brothers who needed liver transplants and just seeing the impact on the family of being on the waiting list really hit home,” Jenny explains.

“I thought: I can’t give a liver, but I can give a kidney.”

Jenny and her two sisters are also cycling from London to Brighton on June 30 to raise funds for Break-through, a breast cancer charity.

The Little Princess Trust charity event will be held at the BAE club in Christ-church at 7pm on Friday.

Tickets cost £5 which includes a buffet, skittles and charity auction. For more information email Jenny at jkdale@sky.com or visit littleprincesses.org.uk
