SOMETIMES people can just find themselves in a no-win situation. Whatever time they decide is most suitable to do work, you can bet that someone else will be inconvenienced.
No doubt the train companies feel that doing repairs on the rail lines at weekends makes sense compared to during the week when commuters are heading to work. But that’s no comfort for the weekend rail travellers who are sometimes transferred to buses.
Bournemouth council faced a similar problem. They elected to carry out roadworks on a key road at night. You can understand that. Drivers would agree that night work makes sense.
But when residents live in nearby properties, it doesn’t take much to knock on their doors or put a note through their letter boxes to warn them, does it?
The council admits it slipped up on this occasion... but it should stick in their minds in the future that putting notices on lamp posts does not mean they get read by the people affected.
