Gardeners are digging up support for Julia’s House by opening their grounds to the public to raise funds for the hospice.
Cerne Abbas, Buckland Newton and Charborough Park are taking part in the Open Gardens event and others have pledged to open after the children’s charity appealed for green fingered fundraisers.
The annual Cerne Abbas event over the weekend of June 16 and 17 features 25 gardens, from pocket handkerchiefs to nearly an acre in size.
Buckland Newton’s garden day is Sunday, June 24, from 1pm to 6pm. Gardens on show include village allotments and two wildflower meadows.
This month there is the chance to explore the garden behind the big brick wall that hides Charborough Park on the A31.
Famous for its landmark stag and lion gates, the estate is again opening its Highwood Garden for Julia’s House on Saturday, May 26 from 2.30pm to 6pm.
Two smaller gardens are also throwing open their gates. On Sunday May 20 a private garden at 69 West Way, Bournemouth, will open from 2-5pm.
Entrance £2.50 and on Wednesday May 30, Corfe Barn, Corfe Lodge Road, Broadstone will be open from 11am to 3pm.
Julia’s House fundraiser Di Pestell said: This is such an enjoyable way for people to show their support for our charity.
“We have been delighted with the response we’ve had from gardeners. We hope the idea will grow and grow.”
