A TALENTED teenager has been handed her dream on a plate – but now faces having it snatched away again.
Contemporary and lyrical dancer Isla Moir, 16, has been offered a place at top London stage school Laine Theatre Arts on a three-year Musical Theatre Course.
But, after discovering she was unsuccessful at a scholarship audition, Isla now has to find the money to fund her place. She needs more than £15,000 just for the first year of the course.
Mum Karen, from Wolverton Road, Boscombe, said: “She had the audition in February and they’ve offered her a place.
“She had her scholarship audition last month, but they’ve cut the funding anyway and we found out on Saturday that she hadn’t got it. We are now trying every other avenue we can think of because that’s her dream school and people progress from there to the West End, which is what she wants.”
Isla, who spent three years training with the Royal Ballet and earlier this year appeared on Sky1’s Got To Dance, has until the end of the month to either accept or decline the place.
Karen added: “If we could at least get the first year sorted, we could work on the next two years, or there’s a possibility she could get a scholarship in-house.
“We are going to try the Masons, because her granddad is a mason in Scotland, and we are going to write to some local companies to see if we can get her sponsored and maybe set up some little charity shows or something like that.
“We’ve done a few other auditions, but the minute she walked in there, she knew it was the one, so we are doing everything we can.
“We can get so much together, but not that much.”
