Head of house Kelly Franklin said: “The whole school has come on leaps and bounds. The children are an absolute credit to the school and we offer them a secure environment where they are supported and listened to.”
Team leader Kate Forbes said: “The students haven’t changed – they are the same – but the best is now being brought out of them. “They are being given the opportunity to achieve.”
Year 11 student Charlotte Kempton, 16, said: “I definitely think it has got ten times better here since we became an academy. “All of the teachers help to push us forward and we all work as a team.”
Year 9 student Jordan Manley said: “I have noticed a big change. “I used to be quite quiet but I am a lot more confident now. “The teachers look at how we can improve and we get a lot more support.”
Karen Ramsier who has children in Year 7 and Year 9, said: “Each child is seen as an individual and the school is improving all the time. My children are very different but are encouraged in what they are good at.”
Dawn Fisher who is a teaching assistant and has had five sons at the school, said: “All the teachers know all the students – it is a community. The behaviour and tidiness of the students is greatly improved.”
