A KINSON man is climbing a mountain in support of a charity for young people.

Josh Addison, 19, will be heading to Mount Kilimanjaro in September in aid of Alice’s Escapes, a charity set up by a mutual family friend to offer holidays for families with terminally ill children.

Josh hopes to raise around £3,500 from the charity challenge, which he needs to have before he goes.

He said: “I was looking for a charity which I could support whilst running a marathon, and my boss told me that he was friends with Alice, the girl who runs the charity along with her mum, and how unwell she is.

“I run and cycle quite a lot anyway, but it’s going to be a group of around 16 of us going, for around 10 days, from September 27,” he said.

“You have to raise £3,000 to take part, but I’m hoping to get that little bit more just to help.

“I started talking to Alice’s mum and I’ve read Alice’s blog and seen what she’s doing and I just wanted to help.”

Alice’s Escape is a cause set up by Alice Pyne, 16, who has a form of cancer called Hodgkins Lymphoma, which means she doesn’t know how long she has to live. She hit the national news after creating a bucket list of things that she wants to do before she dies and setting up the charity was one of them.
