THERE’S more indoor festival madness at the O2 Academy Bournemouth tonight. The excitingly named Steampunk Masquerade Ball will see The Correspondents headline this increasingly popular event with support from MC Xander (beatboxer), DJ Cheeba (Ninja Tunes) and the Bournemouth debut of the Alternative Dubstep Orchestra.
Room 2 is hosted by local bass music specialists Vibez with Brixton-based dubstep producer Cotti topping the bill. For those extroverts among you the optional fancy dress theme is steampunk or masquerade, so grab a top hat, mask and a fake moustache.
The main act The Correspondents is London eccentrics Mr Bruce and Chucks, who collaborate to revamp vintage sounds for the modern ear. Resuscitating sampled relics with squelchy synths over dusty drum loops they’ve created a foot-tapping toe amalgamation of electro, drum ‘n’ bass, swing and boogie-woogie.
It should be an interesting, if bizarre, night for music lovers.
