This weekend two more British servicemen were shot dead by members of the Afghan Police Force.
They were a Royal Air Force airman and a soldier from 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, providing security for local officials at a patrol base.
Just a few weeks ago, Royal Marine, Luke Taylor, of Christchurch, lost his life in a similar incident.
How ironic, that as the latest deaths were unfolding, Royal Marines recently returned from a tour of duty Afghanistan, were fundraising in Poole’s Dolphin Centre, rattling the collecting tins for their comrades - those still out there and those who have come home wounded.
While the deaths of brave men such as Luke Taylor, John Thornton, Phil Allen and Jonny Allott make headlines, the return of those with life-changing injuries, seldom does to the same extent. They deserve our gratitude and support.
Financially and otherwise.
