A RED-FACED security van driver had to be rescued from his own vehicle yesterday after becoming trapped for nearly two hours.
Police were called to Post Office Road in Bournemouth after the alarm of the Sunwin Security Group van sounded.
A passer-by told the Daily Echo that the alarm had gone off after the driver had unwittingly left his keys in the ignition.
In a bid to gain entry, he was observed climbing through the hatch on the roof but became stuck in the secure compartment. Puzzled shoppers watched as the vehicle rocked from side to side. Police officers left the scene after the driver told them the situation was under control and a colleague came to rescue him.
Bradford-based Sunwin Security Group refused to comment on the incident.
