HE’S Christchurch born and bred and now town centre councillor Peter Hall will represent his birthplace as mayor for the next year.
Cllr Hall, who has served on the council for 17 years, said he felt “privileged” to take on the esteemed role in the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Olympics.
The town centre ward councillor, who is also a county councillor, will be accompanied on his mayoral duties by his wife Sally.
A keen sailor and sportsman, Cllr Hall was also the longest serving chairman of the Christchurch Commoners Association.
He has chosen Christchurch District Scouts, the Lighthouse Youth Club and Age Concern Christchurch as his three charities for the year.
He said: “During this year I will endeavour to work for the benefit of everyone in our borough and to promote Christchurch whenever possible, to the best of my ability.”
He congratulated outgoing mayor, Cllr Sue Spittle for her “sterling work” for the borough and said she and her husband John, will be a hard act for him to follow.
