AT just 21 years old, Salford singer-songwriter Ren Harvieu's list of influences reads like that of someone twice her age. Such musical luminaries as Dusty Springfield, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and The Smiths all colour her work, making her music eclectic and exciting.
From triumphant opener Open Up Your Arms to pensive final number Love Is A Melody, this highly anticipated debut album is an extraordinary offering. Yet it almost never came about.
Last May a terrible accident befell Harvieu, leaving her with a broken back and a gloomy prognosis. Harvieu's accident was the result of a stranger jumping over her garden hedge and landing on her.
She'd just finished her debut album, yet she bravely fought on to make a full recovery and release Through The Night - a collection of soulful indie, from an inspirational soul.
