THREE Poole betting shops have been enlisted to spread the message of a new lung cancer awareness campaign.
Pens and information can be found at Coral, William Hill and Stan James bookmakers in the town, along with Ladbrokes in Weymouth.
The campaign, which runs until the end of June, urges anyone who has had a cough for three weeks or more to consult their GP.
Sarah Austin from the Dorset Cancer Network explained: “In common with other diseases, it is important to diagnose the symptoms of lung cancer early to get the most effective treatment. Early diagnosis can save lives.”
Lung cancer is England’s biggest cancer killer, claiming more than 28,000 lives a year. It has one of the lowest survival rates.
Other symptoms of lung cancer can include coughing up blood, breathlessness, repeated chest infections, weight loss and pain in the chest and/or shoulder.
