THIS miniature Shetland pony may be small in stature but he’s going to have a huge personality, adventure farm bosses say.
Apache, named because of his two-tone Indian horse colouring, is only five days old.
He was born at Putlake Adventure Farm to miniature Shetland pony mum Izzy.
Park proprietor Alfie O’Connell, speaking to the Daily Echo from the Langton Matravers attraction, said: “Everyone is over the moon about his birth.
“All the kids just cannot believe how small he is – he’s started throwing his lips already and you can tell that once he gets older he’s going to have a big personality.”
Apache stands just 17in tall and because of his breed he’s unlikely to grow beyond three foot during adulthood.
Mum Izzy, aged four, and three-year-old dad, Jack, arrived at the farm in 2009.
Alfie explained: “Apache will stay with his mother for about five or six months before we wean him off and put him in the stables with the others.”
The farm’s smallest pony has already made an impression with one of its largest inhabitants.
“We had Apache next to Doris, one of our shire horses, the other day,” said Alfie.
“Doris stands about six-and-a-half foot tall and Apache was looking up as she stared right back down at him, it was wonderful.
“Apache is really quite cute and at the moment I can hold him under my arm. Give him a couple of weeks and he’ll be walking up to visitors as he’ll get used to people quite quickly.
“He’ll stay at the park and, hopefully, we’ll breed from him and he’ll become a great attraction.”
