A STUDENT from Twynham School in Christchurch has won a photography competition with an image of Bournemouth beach.
The photograph by Andrew Farmer, 17, was submitted for a competition with New Milton-based firm Space and Solutions.
A level and AS level pupils had to respond to the words “space and clarity” with their images.
The standard of photography amazed staff, who donated a top-of-the-range camera to the school.
Sarah O’Callaghan, from Space and Solutions, said: “I happened to see some of the students’ work last year and I was incredibly impressed with it. We wondered if there was a way we could tap into that talent and encourage the students.
“So we asked the school and came up with the brief for the students that was incorporated into their coursework. The results are quite stunning and the number of techniques employed by the students is really impressive.
“And it has certainly given us some ideas.”
She added: “We chose Andrew’s photograph because it met our brief entirely.”
Art teacher Lola Hurst-Levy said: “The students enjoyed the fact they were responding to a brief that was set by a company and the work was looked at by professionals.
“It formed part of their coursework and they had to produce a sketchbook and a final piece of work.”
Second place went to Joshua Constantine, 16, from Christchurch and third place went to Halle Ashbee, 17, also from Christchurch, as is the winner.
