THE WARM weather could flush superheroes out of hiding tonight to stroll along the seafront raising funds.

That’s the hope of Julia’s House organisers whose big charity fundraiser, the Superhero Night Walk, kicks off at 10pm.

Last year the three or five mile walk along Bournemouth seafront attracted more than 200 supporters, most entering into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up as their favourite superhero.

However this year the unusually wet spring has affected the number of people who have signed up so far.

“Our Superhero Nightwalk is going to be a great night,” said events manager Linda Schofield-Green.

“As far as we can tell it’s going to be warm, which is great news for those in fancy dress.

“We have the most amazing cup cakes for people when they finish and, of course, everyone will be presented with a medal.”

Registration remains open until the walk starts.

It is £10 to register and sponsorship can be obtained afterwards.

Fancy dress is optional and “superhero” is open to interpretation.

“We have Shaun the Sheep, Iron Man and a whole lot of Wonder Women coming, it all depends on whom you consider heroic,” said Linda.

“One lady is coming in her dinner lady tabard and a cape because her six-year-old son said that dinner ladies are heroes.

“Of course you don’t need to dress up at all, anyone that takes part is a hero for our children, as far as we are concerned.”

The Nightwalk will mark the end of Children’s Hospice Week, from May 18 – 25.

As well as encouraging people to join the walk, Julia’s House is also inviting schools and offices to dress up as their favourite superhero in return for a donation on Superhero Friday, May 25.
