THREE kayakers got into serious difficulties off Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage, on Saturday afternoon.
Portland Coastguard scrambled its helicopter, along with the RNLI lifeboat and inshore lifeboat and local Coastguard rescue officers.
A local vessel went to the kayakers’ assistance until rescue units took them to Middle Beach at Studland. It was one of many incidents that kept rescuers busy as temperatures soared.
A yacht was towed clear by a lifeboat after running aground in the surf at Middle Beach, Studland, on Saturday afternoon.
Mudeford’s inshore lifeboat towed a 21ft open boat with four people on board to safety on Saturday after the craft suffered engine failure.
More than 30 people were helped by RNLI lifeguards between Sandbanks and Southbourne on Saturday alone.
Simon Crayfourd, RNLI lifeguard manager for Dorset, said: “With the good weather expected to continue for some time, our advice for people choosing to visit a beach is to swim at a lifeguarded beach, never use inflatables in strong winds or rough seas, and check tide times before you go.
“If you get into trouble, stick your hand in the air and shout for help – and if you see someone else in trouble, tell a lifeguard.
“If you can’t, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.”
