A SOLDIER from Christchurch will be competing in a half iron man challenge to raise money for military charities.
Corporal Richard Bevan, 31, is part of a team who will each swim 2,000 metres, cycle a further 81 kilometres and finish with a 20 km run.
The race will take place at Bala in Wales on June 10 and training is well underway with the hope that the team can raise as much as possible for Afghan Heroes and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
Cpl Bevan, right, a former pupil of Highcliffe School, said: “It’s quite a tough challenge, but we’ve taken part in a number of smaller events in preparation and are all looking forward to it.”
