AN eclectic mix of woodland workers will be coming together in Dorset for this year’s Oak Fair.
The event takes place in the Oak parkland at the Stock Gaylard estate near Sherborne on Saturday, August 25 and features woodcarvers, stick-makers, wood-turners and furniture makers who will be both whittling away and talking about their love of the countryside.
There will be more than 160 exhibits where visitors can see planks being shaped into a table or bench, or traditional toys created from blocks of wood.
A chainsaw carving demonstration by the Tree Pirates will be taking place this year, as well as logging techniques from the Heavy Horse Loggers and a play area where scarecrows can be built and mazes mastered.
