NOT having a street party but still want to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style? Here’s a guide to some of the events taking place across the area.

Bournemouth

• Bournemouth will celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee on the beach with two days of free entertainment. The party starts on Sunday, June 3 from 2pm to 10pm with highlights include Tea Dance, Zumba-thon and a live concert featuring tribute acts Beached Boys, Tom Canning as Tom Jones and Qween.

The celebrations continue on Monday, June 4 from 2pm to 10.30pm with entertainment including the live screening of the Queen’s Jubilee River Pageant, fashion show, dance and, from 6.45pm, the live screening of The Jubilee Concert, live from Buckingham Palace.

The fun takes place to the east of Bournemouth Pier, but the celebrations continue throughout the town centre.

• There will be classical music and fireworks at Meyrick Park on Monday at the Proms in the Park Party. The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will be performing scores from some of your favourite films including Harry Potter and James Bond, while children will be entertained with a Disney medley. The BSO will also play songs from the Last Night of the Proms before a firework finale accompanies their final performance. Tickets are £22 each (£26 on the day). Gates open for picnics at 6pm and the concert starts at 8pm.

Poole

• If you like high-speed action head to The International Paint Poole Regatta where they will be holding a special Diamond Jubilee celebration from Saturday until Monday.

Christchurch

• There will be 12 hours of entertainment on Christchurch Quay (Quomps) on Sunday. From 10am-10pm there’s live music, including a performance by The Kochen Clan Pipe Band from Aalen in Germany, which is Christchurch’s twin town. Motorcycles will be on display by the Christchurch Cruisers and children can take part in a fancy dress competition. Entry is free.

East Dorset

• Wimborne will be well and truly in the party mood with a double celebration for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Square re-opening across five days. There will be flowers festivals, entertainment and food and drink from June 1-5. Highlights include the Big Jubilee Lunch on the Minster Green on Sunday, June 3, and a family day on Tuesday, June 5.

• Half a tonne of fireworks will ensure Ferndown's Diamond Jubilee celebrations go off with a bang on Saturday. The professional display on the King George V Playing Fields at 10pm will have a Best of British theme to mark the end of a day's events from 12pm. Organisers Fiesta Fireworks will fire diamond-effect shells and special high-altitude shells producing an Olympic ring pattern to wow the crowds. One lucky competition winner will get to start the display electronically. Tickets are 50p and proceeds go to the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. Free entry.

• Illusionist Marc Oberon will feature as part of The Hub’s special Diamond Jubilee-themed Family Night Out on Saturday in Verwood. There will also be a disco and games. The fun starts at 7.30pm. Entry £8 for adults and a family ticket is £18.

• Purbeck

A Jubilee Big Lunch Party is taking place in Howards Lane car park, Wareham, on Monday from 12noon until 5pm. There will be music from the Coronation era plus the Wareham Whalers will perform followed by the Dorset Buttons Morris dancers and the Muddlecombe Men. Tables and chairs will be provided but take your own food and drink.
