A COMMUNITY shop is being opened in Boscombe – with the aim of making children’s wishes come true.

Kitty’s Pre-Loved shop is the brainchild of Rubyz Cabaret Restaurant owner David Mitchell, AKA Dame Kitty, who set up the Kitty’s Wish Foundation to provide grants to children’s centres and underprivileged young people for items such as photography courses, laptops or other things they may not be able to afford.

The shop will sell ‘pre-loved’ goods including toys, clothes, books and bric-a-brac, as well as host Kitty’s Cafe, children’s activities and evening events.

David said he also wanted to provide a three-month training scheme for people wishing to get back into employment, including offering them help with their CV.

He said: “One of the big things we wanted to do is get into Boscombe as part of the regeneration that’s going on there.

“We want this to be not just an ordinary charity shop.

“It’s a community-based shop where everybody can get involved with the aim of raising as much money as we can for the Kitty’s Wish Foundation.

“If we break even in the first year and we’ve helped six or seven people get back into employment through that scheme, then that will be a great achievement.”
