PARKSTONE residents are celebrating another chance to fight plans for double yellow lines.

Kate Revuelta and neighbours spoke out after parking restrictions in Churchill Gar-dens were passed at a council meeting last month – without showing on the online agenda.

They had launched a petition objecting to the Borough of Poole proposals and wanted to speak on the issue when it came up at an Alderney, Branksome East and West area committee meeting.

But the next thing they knew, it had been passed.

Now the decision has been suspended until October’s area committee meeting.

In a letter to residents, Councillor Phil Eades said: “I trust residents are satisfied with this outcome and I would like to apologise on behalf of the council for the erroneous notification of the meeting.”

Dorset Fire Service backed the council’s proposals, but residents say parking will just spill into other roads.

Mrs Revuelta said: “We’re happy. This gives us plenty of time to go round, measure the roads and prepare everything else we want to say.

“Fingers crossed, we will be able to stop this.”

After complaints from residents, the online agenda was updated. Steve Dean, senior traffic engineer at the Borough of Poole, said: “We do attempt to contact all residents who respond to our traffic order advertisements to inform them when the relevant committee meetings will be held.

“Residents from the other roads received their acknowledgement letters and several did attend the committee meeting.

“Traffic orders for these roads have now been confirmed.

“While legal processes were carried out correctly, it would appear residents in Churchill Gardens were unaware the committee would be considering a traffic order for their road. In the interests of transparency and community engagement, councillors have arranged for this to be considered again at the next available area committee meeting on October 3 so residents can attend.”
