HRH THE Queen has been painted many times before – but never quite like how the pupils at Old Town First School have painted her.
The sovereign’s visage appeared in a myriad of styles and bright colours, in various locations and sporting all sorts of headwear in the portraits created by the youngsters, which are on display in Sainsbury’s in the town centre.
The collection of 23 paintings was judged by staff, who picked Alisha Goral and Gala Hilken-Rijkes, both eight, as their favourite artists.
The girls were presented with goody bags on Monday, which included Jubilee memorabilia and a book “The Queen’s Knickers.”
Alisha told the Echo she was excited about the jubilee and said she thought the Queen was “a nice, lovely person.”
Gala’s proud mum Rachal Adlem said: “We’re definitely going to put it in a big frame at home.”
PR ambassador at the store Jo Crabb said: “Everyone loved the paintings and the ideas which went into them. They’re all fantastic.”
