BOURNEMOUTH student Sven Knipphals is trying to qualify to compete against Usain Bolt in the London Olympics.
The 26-year-old from Germany is currently studying at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Boscombe.
He must reach a new personal best of 10.16 seconds in the 100 metres to qualify – his current record if 10.23 seconds.
Sven said: “I am very confident that I will qualify even though the times are extremely fast.
“On the right day with the right conditions I know I will do it!”
Sven has competed every weekend for the last five months to try and qualify.
The German Champion-ships will be held over June 16 and 17.
A college spokesman said: “We are all rooting for him and wish him well for the upcoming months.”
