Bling was the name of the game at the Diamonds on the Dene street party in Bournemouth – attended by more than 300 people.
Residents from Branksome Dene Road, Mountbatten Road and Cassell Avenue went all out creating upmarket picnic tables and red, white and blue cakes for a Jubilee Bake-Off.
Organiser Ian Reeves said: “It’s a tight community and it’s been great to see everyone enjoying each other’s company.”
There was also a history zone about the estate and a ‘Did you Know?’ marquee for neighbours to learn more about each other.
In Wordsworth Avenue, Strouden Park, residents from 28 houses dressed in fashions from the last 60 years and held space hopper, egg and spoon and three-legged races.
An organiser, Joanne Hudson, said: “We thought about bringing it forward because of the weather forecast but everyone said no – we’ll put on our raincoats and wellies and make the best of it.
“That’s the British spirit.”
Partygoers in Athelstan Road, Southbourne, sang the national anthem before tucking into lunch.
Guest Mary Jenkins, 90, said: “I think the Queen’s done very well. She’s so natural and yet so regal.”
More than 200 people brought picnic blankets for the Big Jubilee Lunch on Wimborne Minster’s green.
And in Hennings Park Road, Poole, families from 87 houses enjoyed street bingo, a tiara competition and a champagne toast.
