MEMBERS of the public have had their chance to view plans for a new South Stand and 36-bedroom hotel at AFC Bournemouth.
The football club opened its doors to local residents and Cherries supporters over a two-day period to put the proposals on show.
More than 200 people attended the public exhibition, hosted by planning consultants Tanner and Tilley, and were encouraged to register their thoughts before an application is submitted to Bournemouth Borough Council.
The south end of the Seward Stadium has been empty for a number of years, but the club now has ambitious plans to develop the ground.
Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell said: “It was brilliant to see so many people attend the public exhibition and the feedback we received on the comment sheets was almost exclusively positive.
“There was a tangible sense of excitement when the supporters saw our plans, and I think we even won over a few of the doubters as well.”
Mr Mitchell said all suggestions offered would be taken into account. He added: “I think this proves what a valuable exercise the public exhibition has been.”
Carlie O’Neill, business executive at Tanner and Tilley, said the turnout was “excellent”.
She added: “We were pleased to be involved in this event which AFC Bournemouth chose to hold in order to exhibit the plans for their stand and hotel complex.
“The comments received were almost completely positive.
“It is refreshing to see so many people engaged in a project that will have a positive effect on the community.”
