THE John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) is launching “Project 1664” with the aim of increasing their number of email contacts to 1,664, John’s lucky number.
The charity remembers Royal Marine Lt John Thornton, 22, from Ferndown, right, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2008 while serving with 40 Commando.
The scheme was inspired by the Poole-based digital agency TMB, which is supporting the JTYAF for one year by producing a monthly e-newsletter.
The number is significant because it is the year the Royal Marines were founded – and the 1,664 email contact will receive a free crate of Kronenbourg 1664.
Charity Secretary Linda Thornton said: “We’re excited to reach 1,664 subscribers and are thankful to TMB for all their support.”
The JTYAF has given awards to young people that will shortly total £170,000.
The charity continually aims to help young people.
