SCHOOL friends of a little leukaemia sufferer from Ferndown showed their solidarity through a playground trek.
Class by class, 120 pupils from Oakhurst Community First School, in West Moors, clocked up to 20 laps to raise money on behalf of four-year-old Charlotte Jackson.
Charlotte, who has an acute form of the blood cancer, was off sick on Tuesday so did not get to see her pals’ efforts.
Sponsorship money will go to Team Charlotte, set up by Charlotte’s mum Sarah.
School secretary Helen Stevens said: “We hope to raise between £5,000 and £6,000.
“The children know Charlotte has been poorly and that CLIC Sargent has been helping her to get better.
“They were really excited about doing the trek and really determined to do all the laps.”
School mascot Oakey Bear joined in and every child received a certificate of achievement to take home.
Helen, 44, will climb up Mount Kilimanjaro next February.
Charlotte’s mum Sarah, 43, says she’s been overwhelmed by people’s support.
Fifteen people have signed up to a skydive on July 14, and others are taking part in the Great South Run and a Jurassic Coast trek.
Sarah said: “A lot of people taking part are not friends but have heard about Team Charlotte and wanted to support us.”
Reception pupil Charlotte is responding well to treatment but problems due to her weakened immune system have ruled out chemotherapy for the last three weeks.
