DETECTIVES are still questioning a number of suspects arrested in connection with the brutal gangland murder of Reece James Menzies in Bourne-mouth.
They were detained in raids in the early hours of yesterday morning at several addresses in London following a huge media appeal for information.
Reece, the 21-year-old father of a two-month-old baby girl, was shot in the face in a flat in Rou-melia Lane, Boscombe in an incident that shocked the community at 2.15am on Wednesday, July 25.
Dorset Police joined forces with the Metropolitan Police, including specialists from Operation Trident, dedicated to tackling gun and drugs crime and to execute search warrants.
Forensic specialists made thorough searches of the addresses after the arrests were made and inq-uiries are continuing.
On Monday, detectives issued an appeal for information about a silver Audi A3 captured on CCTV near the scene of the crime.
Hours later early morning raids were carried out at addresses in the capital.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, pictured, of the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team said the arrests were as a result of media appeals and inquir-ies.
Police have refused to reveal how many arrests were made or where suspects are being held.
In the days after the murder, police described it as a “premeditated and targeted attack” and attempted to reassure residents in the area.
Reece is believed to have been a member of a gang in London and detectives have investigated the theory that his violent death may have been the result of rivalry between different gangs.
DCI Connolly added: “It is still important that anyone with any information about the death of Reece James Menzies comes forward and speaks with police.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
Anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
Mobile phone tariffs may apply to calls.
