BOURNEMOUTH Air Festival organisers have confirmed that the Sea Vixen, which is based at Hurn airport, will not be taking part in this year’s event as planned.
It said that “operational difficulties, surrounding the display certification” were to blame.
The jet had been set to perform with the Miss Demeanour Hunter jet in a display unique to Bournemouth.
Organisers said they were hoping to welcome the Sea Vixen back next year and were looking to bring in another vintage jet in time for the event, which begins on Thursday, August 30.
The Sea Vixen was involved in an incident at Bournemouth Airport earlier this year. The undercarriage collapsed on landing and the aircraft has not flown since.
