SPANISH waiter Sergio Retamar Marquez is to make his final journey home.
The body of the 23-year-old Bournemouth man was released by the Bournemouth and East Dorset Coroner Sherriff Payne on Thursday to be repatriated to his Spanish home town of Coin near Malaga on the south coast.
Sergio was found decapitated in his flat off Lansdowne Road in Bournemouth on July 17.
A post mortem examination revealed he’d died from multiple stab wounds to the chest. Sergio had previously been a student at the United World School of English in St Peter’s Road, Bournemouth.
He arrived at the school in August last year and spent two months studying general English before a bike accident saw him return to Spain for treatment.
It is understood Sergio had just returned to Bournemouth to start work as a waiter at the Britannia Hotel in Meyrick Road, Bournemouth, when he died. Shortly after his death the Mayor of Coin Fernando Fernandez Tapia-Ruano declared there would be a period of mourning once Sergio’s body was repatriated to Spain.
Karl Addo, 29, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of Sergio.
He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on October 25 for a plea and case management hearing.
